Glorify God in This Name

Glorify God in This Name

I will praise the name of God with a song,
And will magnify Him with thanksgiving.
Psalms 69:30
Our God deserves more glory and praise than we could ever give Him. Being thankful to God for all He has done, and realizing how great He is, we should naturally desire to give Him glory. However, we are also commanded to give Him glory. We need to make sure that we are glorifying God in every way that we can: “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). We can glorify God by our actions (Matthew 5:16), but we must also glorify God in the names we use.

We Glorify the Name of God by being called as Christians:

Yet if anyone suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in this matter. 1 Peter 4:16. And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch. Acts 11:26

We Glorify the Father through His Son Jesus the Word:

If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:17

God is to be Glorified by Calling the Name of Jesus through Baptism

Acts 22:16And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
Act 2:38 – Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 19:5 – When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Mathew 28:16-20All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore[c] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen

Conclusion:

GLORIFY THE NAME OF GOD
IS TO USE THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST
CALLING ON THAT SAME NAME IN BAPTISM
